FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

About the certification

The IAP2 Certificate of Engagement is the internationally recognised benchmark for engagement professionals in Australasia. It is widely valued by government agencies, major infrastructure projects and organisations looking to demonstrate credible, ethical engagement practice. Holding the certificate signals to employers and clients that you have a genuine, structured understanding of best-practice engagement.

The most common pathway to the Certificate (5 days) is

Pathway (1)  Essentials of Engagement (1 day)

+ Design and Plan Engagement (2 days)
+  Apply Engagement Methods (2 days)
= 5 days = Certificate of Engagement.

The other option is to draw on electives

Pathway (2) Essentials of Engagement (1 day)
+ Design and Plan Engagement (2 days) OR  Apply Engagement Methods (2 days)
+ two one day electives of your choice (eg: Navigating Conflict, Data Management etc).
= 5 days = Certificate of Engagement.

Talk to us about which pathway suits your goals and what we currently offer.

Essentials of Engagement is the prerequisite and must be completed first. Once you have completed Essentials, you can complete the remaining courses in any order.

We recommend doing Essentials, Methods and then Design.

Yes. Essentials of Engagement can be taken as a standalone course. Elective courses can also be taken independently. Each course has its own certificate of completion.

If you want to work toward the full certificate, you need to complete the 5 days.

Yes. Please get in touch and let us know which courses you have already completed.

We will confirm what you need to finish the certificate and arrange your enrolment from there. Please have copies of your existing certificates ready.

You will receive a digital certificate of attendance for each individual course completed. Once you have completed the full certificate requirements, the Engagement Institute will issue your Certificate of Engagement at the end of the month of completion.

Note: your fees must be paid in full before you are included in Aha!'s monthly report to the Engagement Institute, which triggers certificate issuance.

Please ensure your contact details with the Engagement Institute are kept up to date, as certification is managed by them directly.

Full attendance is required for certification. If you miss more than 45 minutes of course content, you will either need to complete additional assessment work at your own cost, or repeat the course. This is at the trainer's discretion.

Certificates are produced from the sign-in sheet, so please ensure your details are accurate on the day. A $50 administration fee applies for re-issuing certificates due to errors in participant-provided information.
